WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) announced that he will bring Fifth District resident Jacqueline Beale as his guest to President Trump's State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening. Jacqueline serves as the Maryland State Lead Ambassador for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the non-partisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society.
"I am honored that Jacqueline Beale will be my State of the Union guest," said Congressman Hoyer. "After surviving cancer twice, Jacqueline is a strong advocate for Marylanders living with pre-existing health care conditions. I am grateful for the work that she does to shed light on the need to improve access to affordable health care for all Americans and defend protections for those with pre-existing conditions."
"Jacqueline's experience fighting cancer and living with a pre-existing condition reminds us what is at stake when it comes to the President’s efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act’s protections," continued Congressman Hoyer. "One of the first actions taken by House Democrats in the 116th Congress was to defend the Affordable Care Act and its protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions in the courts. We are committed to ensuring those protections, and we will take steps to lower health care costs. I am pleased to be able to share Jacqueline's story, and I look forward to welcoming her to the Capitol tomorrow evening."
Jacqueline Beale is a two-time breast cancer survivor. In addition to serving as the Maryland State Lead Ambassador for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, she is the Senior Manager for Development and Outreach for Hope Connections for Cancer Support in Prince George's County, Maryland. Jacqueline lives in Glenn Dale, Maryland and received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland.
